HiFuture Ultra3 Pro Review: The Best Smartwatch Under 4k by GeekHub

I’ve tested smartwatches at every level—from the ultra-premium Apple Watch Ultra to budget-friendly knockoffs that barely last a week. So when I spotted the HiFuture Ultra3 Pro on TechCart.co.za for just R1,799 during launch, I had to see if this sleek little number was just another generic wearable or something worth talking about.

Spoiler: it’s punching way above its price tag.

Lets make this clear: This isn’t going to outclass an Apple Watch or any manistream brand for that matter, although it kinda looks the part—but for everyday users? It might just be the best-kept secret in wearable tech.

Wait—Who’s HiFuture?

If you haven’t heard of HiFuture, don’t worry—you’re not alone. They’re not exactly a household name… yet. Founded in 2016, HiFuture is one of those brands quietly building a solid reputation by focusing on the sweet spot between quality and price. They’re not just throwing plastic at the wall either—they’ve partnered with heavyweights like Qualcomm, Realtek, and BES to build tech that’s actually reliable. With the goal of bringing premium features to everyday people without the eye-watering price tags. And judging by the Ultra3 Pro, they’re on the right track.

First Impressions: Looks Rich, Costs Peanuts

Let’s talk design. The Ultra3 Pro looks like it costs at least five times its price. The 2.04” AMOLED display is bright, sharp, and makes everything pop—even under direct sunlight. The stainless steel body has real weight to it, and the overall feel is more “executive boardroom” than “budget bin.”

It’s the kind of smartwatch that earns second glances and then wide eyes, especially when people find out what you paid for it. 

The only letdown: The overall aesthetic is a tad too close to the Apple Watch Ultra for my liking and along with the naming convention can make it seem like they’re trying too hard to be something they’re not. But I guess that works for some.

Compatibility & Setup: Brain-Dead Simple

The pairing process is smooth: turn it on, scan the QR code, download the HiFuture app, and go through a quick setup—email, OTP, password, and a one-time pairing. Done in under five minutes.

It plays nice with iOS, Android, and even Harmony OS, which is great if you’re rocking a Huawei device. No unnecessary drama, just clean execution.

The App: Basic But Functional

The HiFuture app isn’t going to win design awards, but it gets the job done:

• Home tab gives you the essentials: steps, calories, heart rate, and distance.

• Sports tab unlocks over 100 activity tracking modes (yes, really).

• Profile tab lets you hook into Apple Health, Samsung Health, and others to sync your stats.

Heck, it even supports Strava. This is a big deal, as there are some smartwatches three times the price that don’t.

It’s simple, but it works. And for most people, that’s more than enough.

Everyday Use: Surprisingly Capable

For a budget smartwatch, the Ultra3 Pro doesn’t feel budget. You get real-time heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen tracking, sleep insights, Bluetooth calling, notifications, and even music control. Add IP68 water resistance to the mix and this thing is ready for the gym, the office, or a splashy beach day.

Battery life is solid. Not just at this price point, but solid period! I’ve been averaging 6–7 days on a full charge, even with notifications and fitness tracking turned on. Compare that to most flagship watches struggling to last 48 hours, and it’s clear who’s doing more with less.

Bluetooth Calling: Not Just a Party Trick

Bluetooth 5.3 keeps connections stable, and the onboard mic and speaker make on-the-go calls surprisingly decent. It’s not studio-quality, but it’s more than good enough when your phone’s buried in a bag or your hands buried in a spicy “bunny chow.”

Sure, the Ultra3 Pro doesn’t have ECG readings or native Spotify playback. But for under R2K? It covers the 90% most people actually use—notifications, health tracking, decent call handling—and leaves enough change for a decent pair of TWS earbuds.

What Could Be Better

• The app UI feels a little dated.

• Fitness data is solid for casual use, but not deep enough for athletes or stat junkies.

• Watch face options are decent, but you’ll want more after a while

• Notifications handling could be more refined

But these are small trade-offs when you look at what you’re getting for the price, and this is not even the most affordable option. 

This is HiFuture’s premium model. You can snag the HiFuture Zone 2 at an even more ridiculous R999 or the V02 for R699 – Both of which I am currently testing and will conduct a deep dive review soon. So watch this space.

GeekVerdict: Shockingly Good Value

The HiFuture Ultra3 Pro is one of those rare products that delivers more than you expect. It looks premium, performs reliably, and costs less than the wireless magsafe charging stand I reviewed here. Yes, it’s not an Apple or a  Garmin, and you shouldn’t expect it to be. But for the 95% of people who just want a stylish, capable smartwatch that won’t drain their bank account, this is a no-brainer.

Buy it. Wear it. Enjoy telling people how little you paid.
